Payment options and deadlines
Please note that the billing date remains the same on each monthly statement. It can be changed upon request to Cembra.
From the billing date, a 20-day payment period begins. Your payment must reach us within this period.
As a cardholder, you are required to make a payment each month within 20 days of the billing date, as long as your credit card account has an outstanding balance.
To avoid reminder fees, please initiate your payment early through your bank or post office. If a payment received within the deadline is lower than the minimum amount stated on the monthly statement, a reminder with a fee will be issued. In addition, late interest will be charged.
Your monthly payment can be:
-
the full amount of the monthly statement -> no interest charged
-
the minimum amount stated on the monthly statement (3% of the total, but at least CHF 50.–) -> interest will be charged
-
a partial amount of your choice -> interest will be charged
Example 1: Partial payment of your choice
Total statement amount: CHF 1’000.–
Amount paid: CHF 200.–
Late interest will be charged.
Example 2: Payment of the minimum amount
(3% of the statement amount, min. CHF 50.–)
Total statement amount: CHF 1’000.–
Amount paid: CHF 50.–
Late interest will be charged.
Fees and interest
If a partial payment is made within the 20-day payment period, credit interest will be charged from the transaction date.
If the cardholder makes a late payment or no payment at all within the 20-day period, late interest equal to the credit interest will be charged.
No late interest is charged on the credit interest.
Interest is calculated individually for each transaction (credit card payment), from the transaction date until the payment is received.
Interest is calculated based on the daily balance of the account.
A processing fee of 1.5 to 2.0% is charged on the total amount paid for the following transactions:
-
transactions in foreign currency abroad (excluding Liechtenstein)
-
CHF transactions abroad
-
transactions on foreign websites
-

-
transactions in foreign currency online

Transactions
All transactions made with a Swiss credit card in Swiss francs (CHF) at a foreign point of sale or on a foreign website are considered foreign transactions in CHF.
This includes direct currency conversions into CHF at the place of purchase or purchases in CHF on foreign websites (online or via apps).
Online providers may appear to be based in Switzerland (e.g. domain ending in “.ch”, prices in CHF).
The legal notice or general terms and conditions on the provider’s website will indicate the company’s registered location.

Examples of due diligence:
-
Always keep your PIN secret and never share it with others
-
Do not share SMS codes
-
Do not disclose your card details by phone or via email links
-
Use secure and trusted websites for online transactions
-
Regularly check your credit card statements for unknown transactions
Never disclose your credit card details (card number, expiry date, CVC, PIN) for informational purposes – even if you are told the card will not be charged.
Make sure to only carry out online transactions via a secure connection (e.g. SSL/https).
Always check for the padlock symbol in the address bar and that the URL begins with “https”.
Check your monthly statements for incorrect or suspicious transactions.
If you notice a suspicious or incorrect transaction, proceed as follows:

Before making a purchase, always review the merchant’s terms and conditions before entering your card details and completing your order.

Only use your credit card with reputable providers.
Signs of trustworthiness include transparent information about data encryption, legal notice, company address, email address, phone number and general terms and conditions.
Do not make purchases with your credit card on public computers (e.g. in an internet café).
Your data may remain in the cache and be accessed by the next user.
Fraudsters use phishing to obtain confidential information (such as card numbers or passwords) via seemingly legitimate emails, SMS, calls or websites. Even if you are not a Cembra customer, you may still be targeted. Never respond to such requests. Cembra will never ask you to disclose confidential information by email, SMS or phone.
Your credit card is equipped with the latest chip technology and offers a high level of protection against misuse.
It allows you to identify yourself with your personal PIN and authorize transactions.
It is even more secure when used with Click to Pay or Mobile Payment.
Your PIN allows you to use your credit card wherever PIN entry is required – for example, in stores, at gas stations or ATMs.
PIN entry replaces your signature.
Whether a transaction requires a PIN or signature is determined by the respective Mastercard merchant.
For contactless payments up to CHF 80.–, no PIN is required.
Your PIN is available in the Cembra App and can be changed at any ATM in Switzerland.
